Pai Gow Poker is a variation of standard Poker that blends both the ancient Chinese game of Pai Gow with American Poker. Pai Gow Poker began appearing in various forms around the mid-1800s, but did not become popular until 1986. A year later it was hitting casino floors around the world.

Pai Gow Poker is played with a 52-card deck and one Joker (the wild card). The object of the game is to split the seven cards that are dealt to a player into two hands, one with five cards and one with two cards. Both of the player’s hands must beat the two hands of the dealer to win.
